Home and Away star Annabelle Stephenson has explained Taylor Rosetta's big mistake in trusting killer Colby Thorne.
Taylor recently betrayed her husband Angelo (Luke Jacobz) by pursuing an affair with Colby (Tim Franklin), despite him being the prime suspect in the Ross Nixon murder investigation.
Angelo, who recently discovered the affair, has repeatedly warned Taylor that Colby is not to be trusted. Each time, Taylor has believed Colby's protestations of innocence over Ross's death, and has even given him insider information on how her husband's investigation is going.
In Thursday's episode on Channel 5 (November 19), Angelo goes a step further by using Taylor's betrayal in a bid to trap Colby. He gives Taylor a necklace which has a bug hidden inside it, allowing him to eavesdrop on her secret conversations with Colby.
Why Taylor keeps falling for Colby's lies, Annabelle explained: "Angelo has accused the wrong man in a murder investigation before, because he becomes so obsessed with his work and goes down a rabbit hole. Taylor has also developed genuine love for Colby.
"Whenever Angelo accuses Colby, Taylor is confronted with the unbelievable, something that seems so unreal. So she defends Colby instinctively, but it's because she thinks Angelo might be going down the same rabbit hole.
"Whenever she confronts Colby about this, he adamantly denies to have any involvement, so Taylor remains none the wiser and believes Colby.
"Taylor doesn't believe that this man she's fallen in love with could possibly have murdered someone and Angelo is only on a track of obsession. He's got a one-track mind and has got his blinkers on – he might be going down the wrong track."
Asked how Taylor would react if she did know the truth about Colby, Annabelle replied: "If Taylor had found out that Colby murdered Ross Nixon, I think her world would come crashing down. Her trust would have been betrayed.
"Although she knows Colby to be the man who she fell in love with, who loves his family, protects his family and protects the community, there have still been times when she's asked him outright and he's lied to her.
"I think she would be conflicted between the lies that he's told her, but the person that she knows him to be."
She said: "I think Taylor is still very much in love with her husband, as much as she can be after years of trying to repair their marriage. She's holding onto the last glimmer of hope because she's committed to him, she has a high moral ground and she's moved to the Bay dedicated to fixing their relationship.
"It's not to say that they are without problems, but she is very much living in the Bay for Angelo's sake.
"Colby reached out to Taylor when she needed it, so I think it's fair to say that she has found a confidant in him. She values his company very much because she's in a vulnerable and lonely position and he has offered her a shoulder to lean on, helps with her work and it helps that he's a good looking cop as well!"
However, Annabelle teased: "Taylor's world will crumble when she finds the two men in her life have betrayed her. The audience will go along on the ride with her, because you see two alpha males fighting and a woman being used as a pawn.
"How it unfolds is extremely dirty, salacious and vindictive. There can only be one winner and I think that's where we come to a head."
