Home and Away actress who is now the show's chief hair and makeup artist

Laura Vazquez is a name many die-hard fans of Home and Away will remember as she played the resident 'good girl' Sarah Thompson in the 1990s.

Nowadays, she's moved from in front of the camera to the makeup chair.

Laura, 45, is the head of Home and Away's hair and makeup department, and was featured in a post shared by the soap's official Instagram account on Wednesday.

Laura has shared quite a few behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram over the past few years, so her job isn't exactly a secret among dedicated fans.

She is friends with several cast members, including Sam Frost and Georgie Parker.

In one recent photo, Laura beamed alongside Home and Away veterans Emily Symons and Lynne McGranger.

Last year, she posted a picture of herself with actor Ray Meagher, who played her on-screen foster father Alf Stewart, and wrote in the caption: 'Been working with the nicest man in television since I was 17.'

Laura made her debut on Home and Away as Sarah Thompson in 1993.

Her character became friends with Angel Brooks and Damian Roberts, played by Melissa George and Matt Doran respectively.

The Argentinian-born actress left in 1994 but returned the following year to make a brief appearance at Angel's wedding.

She had another cameo in 2005 for Alf's 60th birthday.

Laura, who also starred in medical drama All Saints, began working as a freelance makeup artist on Home and Away in 2016 and was promoted to head of the department last year.
