ITV's legendary soap Coronation Street will celebrate its 60th anniversary in the coming weeks.

As announced, there will be three standout storylines reaching their conclusions during this milestone period, which have been built up over the course of many, many hours and episodes.

First we have the evil Geoff Metcalfe and his long-suffering wife Yasmeen, who are currently awaiting the results of the latter's attempted murder trial. The anniversary week will air the end of the trial, but will justice be served or is Yasmeen's nightmare only just beginning?

Elsewhere on the cobbles, it's been revealed that "two people battle to keep a shameful secret that will ruin their lives and those around them". As the week progresses, the web of lies and deceit they've created threatens to destroy them.

eanwhile, there's still the villainous Ray Crosby to contend with, who's bought the majority of properties and businesses in the local area.

Gearing up to flatten everything in his path to make way for new developments, these special anniversary episodes will find Ray's plans in jeopardy as the Weatherfieldians club together to challenge him.

On top of the storylines, Corrie will be counting down each day until its official anniversary on December 9 with messages from famous fans, charities, cast members and the viewers themselves.

Things will kick off today (October 11) with a message from national treasure Joanna Lumley.

Coronation Street is currently airing on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV.
