Coronation Street's Peter Barlow has received some devastating news following Carla Connor's one-night-stand with Adam Barlow.

Tonight's double-bill (November 20) aired the aftermath of Carla and Adam's decision to sleep with each other, after the former's relationship with Peter hit the rocks over his drinking.

Immediately regretting her actions, Carla soon received even more bad news as Sarah Platt told her she'd spotted Jenny and Johnny taking a drunk Peter to the hospital.

When Peter finally regained consciousness at the hospital, he had the chance to make amends with Carla as she rushed to his bedside.

Peter apologised to Carla, admitting that he only pushed her away because wanted an excuse to keep drinking.

However, he soon received some worrying news as the doctor told him that, due to his previous overindulgence, he was potentially one drink away from causing fatal internal bleeding.

Back at home, the couple appeared to be back on track after reaffirming their love for each other. But things soon soured again when Peter answered a call from the hotel Carla stayed in last night, learning that she spent the evening with a man.

When confronted, Carla confessed to Peter that she cheated on him, but didn't let on that it was with Adam.

Peter agreed to let it go, but at the end of the episode viewers saw him phoning hotel and trying to get more information about the man Carla was with.

He doesn't get anywhere, but it's clear he's actually not willing to turn a blind eye and won't stop until he finds out who Carla's mystery man is.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV, with occasional Friday episodes airing for an hour-long block at 7.30pm.
